Art Deco diamond lever-back dangle earrings, made in France

A sparkling pair of diamond dangle earrings, pierced ears, lever-back, 18kt white gold and platinum, circa 1930’s crafted in France, excellent condition… A touch of history.

STYLE SPECIFICS : Art Deco - Abstract motives and geometrical forms are quite typical for the Art Deco period.
PERIOD : 1930
MATERIAL : 18K white gold and platinum, although most of this jewel is in white gold, the diamonds are set in platinum. This finds it origin in a much older period where it was common for diamonds to be set in silver (see explanation on silver on gold).
DIAMONDS : Four old mine brilliant cut diamonds with a total estimated weight of approx. 1.95 crt. (color J/K/L; clarity si/i)
WEIGHT : 6.60 gram (4.24 dwt)
HALLMARKS : We are sure of the origin of this exquisite piece of jewelry because of the control mark representing an eagle’s head (that was in use in France from about 1838) for 18K gold and the use of the control mark representing a dog’s head (that was in use in France from about 1912) for platinum.
CONDITION : excellent condition
MEASUREMENTS : Height approx. 1.85 cm (0.73 inch)
