A type of brooch in the form of a single or double bow-knot, usually set with gemstones and often having suspended a pendent pearl. They were made in France, England, the Netherlands, and Spain from the second half of the 17th century. Some were enamelled on the front, and especially on the back, in the style of Gilles Légaré.
