A small receptacle for carrying a lady's fan, used in Europe in the 16th/17th centuries. Some examples are in the form of a flower, caduceus, etc., made of gold and decorated with enamelling or gemstones, and having a small suspensory ring at the bottom of the stem. Several examples were found in the Cheapside Hoard.
