See our: rings.
A type of signet ring worn in England from the 14th/15th centuries, bearing originally the crest or badge, later the coat of arms, of the owner. Some specimens from the Elizabethan era had the arms engraved on crystal in the bezel and the tinctures (colours) of the arms painted on the revers, so that they would not be marred by use.
