Huguenots is the name that was given to French Protestants from about 1560 to 1629. The Huguenot cross itself, however, was designed and first manufactured by Mystre of Nξmes in 1688. The Huguenot Cross is full of rich symbolism. Its rounded points represent the eight Beatitudes, it has an incorporated Maltese Cross made up of a four petalled Lilly of France symbolizing the four Gospels, while the four fleur-de-lis (with each 3 petals) signify the twelve Apostles. The characteristic pendant dove at the bottom signifies the Holy Ghost. The Huguenot Cross is often worn by descendants of the Huguenots, and can be seen at most Huguenot gatherings
