A type of finger ring in the form of a wide gold band having on it the engraved or embossed word Mizpah (in modern use a Hebraic parting salutation). It was worn as a talisman, especially as a gift to departing soldiers, the name implying watchfulness by the donor, being derived from a parting salutation in Genesis XXXI, 49.
