Muff chain

A very long chain to be suspended around the neck and having fasteners at the terminals to be attached when the chain was passed through a lady's fur muff. Such chains were popular in England in the 18th century and later. Such a chain, set with diamonds, was a wedding gift to Lady Churchill.
